Closure of Grizzly Bear Hunting in BC

We learned this morning and confirmed with Scott Ellis that grizzly bear hunting in British Columbia will be closed after this season effective November 30, 2017. The BC FLNR Minister's release is linked below. We assume more details will follow. Hunting will be closed in the Great Bear Rainforest, while hides, claws, and skulls must be left in the bush throughout the rest of the province, serving as an indirect closure likely to avoid compensation to outfitters. We are working with Jason St. Michael, who is drafting a letter to the Minister on behalf of SCI and SCI Foundation Canada, and have provided him with information on our South Rockies Grizzly Bear Project.
